The Master of Science in Biology offers comprehensive training in modern biological principles, featuring advanced studies in cell biology, molecular biology, microbiology, physiology, neurobiology, immunology, genetics, genomics, and systems biology. Designed for both part-time and full-time students, this flexible program allows participants to customize their course selections and research projects while fostering interdisciplinary collaborations with NYU's Chemistry and Physics departments, NYU Langone Medical School, the College of Dentistry, the Center for Neural Science, the Courant Institute for Mathematical Science, and the New York Genome Center. While most students complete the degree in 1.5 to 2 years, accelerated completion within one year is possible through increased course loads.
In partnership with the NYU School of Global Public Health, the Biology Department also offers a Public Health specialization. This track aims to expand biological knowledge to better comprehend the biological, psychosocial, and structural factors influencing population health outcomes.
