The Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Studies merges passions for food and nutrition with health, cultural, or business pursuits. This program offers a robust liberal arts and sciences foundation, featuring core lecture and lab courses that blend food studies, nutrition, and management. Students select either the Nutrition and Dietetics or Food Studies concentration, while benefiting from diverse electives and internships tailored to their career aspirations.
Participants in either concentration complete coursework covering nutrition, food identity, food science, and production management, gaining insights into food's societal role. The curriculum explores nutritional values, eating habits, cultural influences on diet, food marketing, and management principles, complemented by hands-on food preparation training in the department's lab facilities.
Faculty assist students in securing valuable internships across New York City's vast professional landscape, including healthcare institutions, culinary establishments, media outlets, corporations, and community organizations. These practical experiences enhance professional competencies and frequently lead to job opportunities post-graduation.
