The Latin American and Caribbean studies major enables students to create an interdisciplinary curriculum focused on their regional interests, incorporating diverse disciplines such as political science, historical studies, literary analysis, cultural anthropology, and art history. The College of Arts and Science features an accomplished, engaged faculty specializing in Latin American and Caribbean studies. This program actively promotes study abroad opportunities at NYU Buenos Aires, which offers specialized courses for majors, while also highlighting New York City's vibrant Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx cultural landscape. NYU provides unique programs in Haitian Creole and Quechua language studies. Students gain access to extensive programming through NYU's Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS, as.nyu.edu/clacs) and the city's rich regional resources. This undergraduate major is a collaborative offering between the Department of Spanish and Portuguese and the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, with administrative oversight by the Department of Spanish and Portuguese.
