Tailored for experienced musicians looking to elevate their professional journey, this initiative offers growth opportunities and visibility for pianists pursuing doctoral studies or beyond. You'll engage in one-on-one instruction with NYU Steinhardt's renowned faculty, select from specialized courses in performance techniques and music pedagogy, and complete The Art of the Piano: Pedagogy and Practice—a unique two-semester curriculum culminating in a public performance. The program accommodates both full-time and part-time enrollment to suit your commitments. All graduate music programs require foundational knowledge of music history and theory. Incoming students must complete placement assessments in these subjects before starting; evaluations consider both your academic background and program requirements. Note that remedial coursework doesn't count toward degree completion.
