Stage managers serve as the maestros of theater production, skillfully blending diverse elements into a cohesive whole. They translate scripts and scores through their distinctive lens while harmonizing production requirements with team dynamics. A stage manager's role spans the entire creative journey, encompassing pre-production, rehearsals, tech runs, previews, and live performances - maintaining artistic consistency throughout this evolution as the sole constant participant.

UC San Diego's stage management program bridges practice and theory, recognizing their intersection as the richest learning environment. The curriculum empowers students to establish clear objectives that foster productive creative partnerships. With comprehensive understanding of directing, design, acting, and technical production, our students develop a refined collaborative approach. They're inspired to maintain artistic curiosity about their peers while embracing their role as equal creative contributors.
