The Master of Fine Arts in design/technology is a specialized professional program dedicated to cultivating creative and skilled artists and technicians for careers in theater and entertainment.

Aiming to foster adaptable, innovative students with versatile portfolios, the program mandates that each participant specialize in one area: scenic design, lighting design, costume design, or technical direction. Additional coursework in fields like entertainment engineering, interior design, architecture, film, 3-D imaging, and animation enhances the designer's expertise, perspective, and practical experience.

Students receive hands-on training through mentorship with UNLV's accomplished design/technology faculty and renowned guest artists. They engage in tailored production projects designed to refine their creativity and technical abilities, focusing on drafting, research, historical context, conceptual development, and collaborative production work. The program also offers valuable industry connections and internship opportunities that supplement departmental training.
