This handbook outlines key prerequisites for earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering. These guidelines complement the foundational doctoral degree requirements set by the NMSU Graduate School. Our department specializes in Solid Mechanics research, addressing critical material science engineering challenges. Through integrated theoretical analysis, computational modeling, and laboratory experimentation, we bridge the gap between manufacturing processes, material structures, and nanoscale characteristics. Active research initiatives explore advanced nanocomposites and next-generation fuel cell materials with sponsored funding.
