After completing their studies, graduates will be equipped to handle both the technical and leadership roles of Occupational Health and Safety practitioners.
The program follows guidelines set by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), which funds the initiative. Students gain comprehensive knowledge through coursework and research, covering all key aspects relevant to beginning safety professionals - particularly how workplace technologies and dangerous substances impact safety. NJIT's offering stands among only a few such programs nationwide and remains New Jersey's sole graduate-level option. NIOSH provides a select number of financial aid packages and tuition waivers to eligible candidates.
This curriculum trains engineers specifically in workplace safety and health. Graduates emerge prepared to take on both the technical and administrative duties required of safety experts.
