History is a comprehensive field of study that includes core classes in both World History and U.S. History, supplemented with elective courses that broaden and enrich students' knowledge—such as non-Western history classes or humanities and social science courses covering historically marginalized groups or global topics that meet general education transfer requirements.
The Associate in Arts in History for Transfer Degree program teaches students to critically evaluate diverse sources, identify patterns, and extract key insights from historical information. Through this curriculum, students explore the richness and variety of past events, helping them understand contemporary issues within their historical framework.
To obtain an Associate in Arts in History Degree for Transfer, students must complete at least 60 transferable semester units following either the IGETC or CSU GE breadth requirements, including an 18-unit major. A minimum 2.0 GPA in all CSU-transferable courses is required, with all major courses completed with a C grade or higher (or a Pass grade if taken on a Pass/No Pass basis). Students who earn this transfer degree are exempt from additional local graduation requirements.
