Bachelor's Degree
The program awards a Bachelor of Arts degree with a specialization in African, African American, and Diaspora Studies, allowing students to focus on either African Studies or African American and Diaspora Studies. Students can also pursue minors in these fields. Language courses are available in Swahili, Wolof, and Lingala. Those considering honors research and thesis writing should meet with the Department's Honors Coordinator during their junior year to learn about application requirements.
All students will be expected to have completed the pre-university curriculum (Secondary School/High School) in their country prior to enrolling at UNC-Chapel Hill. English Language Tests: TOEFL minimum is 100; IELTS minimum is 7.0; PTE minimum is 68.
