The earth and environmental science graduate programs allow students to deepen their knowledge across departmental specialties, whether for professional development, academic enrichment, or teaching careers requiring advanced expertise. Arts and sciences students gain comprehensive exposure to earth and environmental sciences through these programs. The curriculum offers adaptable elective options, enabling specialization in: (1) environmental geology, (2) igneous and metamorphic geology, (3) sedimentology, stratigraphy, and paleobiology, or (4) oceanography and marine geology. For the oceanography track, students typically complete coursework at New Jersey Marine Science Consortium locations during summer sessions.
