Child maltreatment remains one of society's most urgent and avoidable challenges. As a result, there's significant need for child advocates—skilled professionals devoted to children's welfare. Currently, though, many in this role identify as advocates without formal expertise in the intricate aspects of child abuse and neglect. Modern child advocacy has also expanded its scope beyond protection, encompassing various aspects of children's lives across systems like education, mental health, and juvenile justice. Effective advocacy in these areas requires knowledge of how child-serving systems operate.
