In today's global landscape, religion maintains significant influence across societies and countries. On a national level, we observe everything from nuanced Supreme Court rulings on religious liberties to intense political discussions connecting faith to education, sexuality, and social justice issues. Internationally, religious beliefs shape political landscapes, making them a recurring topic in mainstream media and digital platforms. Our graduates build careers in education, social services, nonprofit organizations, and legal fields, with many continuing their education through advanced degrees.
The Religious Studies program equips students to examine religion as a powerful social, cultural, and political phenomenon in contemporary society. The curriculum mandates four foundational courses covering world religions, academic methodologies for studying faith systems, and modern religious tensions and collaborations. Within this updated Core framework, students can choose between two culminating experiences: a conventional research seminar or a hands-on community engagement project.
