The Department of Health and Human Development provides a doctoral program in Exercise and Nutrition Sciences with two specialization tracks: 1) exercise nutrition, metabolism, and physiology, and 2) biomechanics and motor control. This curriculum focuses on combining kinesiology and nutritional science for practical research addressing human movement and wellness. The PhD program expands upon either the current MS in Exercise and Nutrition Sciences or an equivalent graduate degree from another university. Both specialization tracks are grounded in fundamental sciences including biochemistry, cellular/molecular biology, anatomy, physiology, physics, and mathematics. Students in both tracks will study essential exercise and nutrition science concepts, research methodology, statistical analysis, and specialized advanced courses for their chosen track. All candidates will also create an academic portfolio featuring research accomplishments (presentations, published articles, funding proposals) and teaching experience (course development, classroom instruction, student guidance).
