Dive into the dynamic field of athletic training, also known as sports medicine, and start supporting, treating, and guiding athletes at all skill levels. Study subjects like athletic training, human anatomy, sports nutrition, injury prevention, and rehabilitation therapy—all in intimate class settings capped at 16 students for optimal learning. Gain practical experience by collaborating with college and high school athletic teams or training active individuals at CMU's recreation center, physical therapy clinics, and other facilities.
Our program holds accreditation from the Commission on Athletic Training Education and pioneered the sports medicine major concept nationwide. For more than four decades, we've maintained exceptional standards, achieving near-perfect first-time pass rates on national certification exams for our students.
To align with evolving industry needs and equip you for certification success, you'll complete our innovative 3+2 program (three undergraduate years plus two graduate years) that merges a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training with a Master of Science degree. Start in the pre-professional phase and apply for the professional track after enrolling at CMU.
