Students pursuing the thesis option need to fulfill a 30-credit Program of Study, comprising a minimum of 20 coursework credits and exactly 10 thesis credits. This academic plan should be completed during the initial graduate semester in collaboration with the student's faculty advisor.

Official transcripts (one of which must have a conferred degree posted) reflecting all undergraduate and/or post-baccalaureate study. Applicants who are alumni of MSU do not need to submit their transcripts.
An undergraduate GPA of at least 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale). Applicants with post-baccalaureate experience must have a graduate GPA of at least 3.00.
Up to three (3) letters of reference.
Three (3) Year Bachelor's Degrees: MSU accepts a three year Bachelor's degree from applicants. You are welcome to submit an application which will be reviewed by the department to determine whether you are a strong enough candidate to be admitted. If admitted, you may be asked to take some undergraduate courses at the start of your graduate degree at MSU to strengthen your background
