Our graduate program combines rigorous academic study with innovative research opportunities. Students can pursue a master's degree with either a thesis or non-thesis track, while doctoral candidates must complete an extensive dissertation and publish original research. We offer graduate studies in geology and geophysics at both master of science (with thesis and non-thesis options) and Ph.D. levels. These programs aim to build a strong foundation in geological principles, geochemistry, and geophysical concepts. Research forms a core component of all programs, with doctoral students expected to make novel scientific contributions.
In geophysics, master's and doctoral students can conduct research across multiple specialties including reflection/refraction seismology, theoretical seismology, geophysical data interpretation, gravity and magnetic studies, seismic risk assessment, and computational geophysics.
