The School Counseling program within the Department of Counseling, Higher Education Leadership, Educational Psychology, and Foundations in the College of Education provides master's and educational specialist degrees. Additionally, a doctoral program in Counselor Education and Supervision is available. Master's graduates qualify for Mississippi school counselor licensure, while specialist and doctoral graduates also meet requirements for Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) certification in Mississippi. The curriculum aligns with the College of Education's Conceptual Framework for General Advanced Program. Both NCATE and CACREP accredit the master's program, while CACREP also accredits the doctoral program.

A school counseling degree opens diverse career paths. Our alumni work as school counselors in pre-K through 12th grade settings, along with roles as child behavior therapists, military counselors, community college advisors, career specialists, and university positions including academic advising and career services.
