This program caters to professionals holding a master's degree in counseling (such as community counseling or college counseling) who aim to transition into school counseling. The Post-Master's Certificate Program for School Counselor Licensure spans 14-30 credit hours, equipping participants with the necessary skills for entry-level school counseling roles across K-12 educational settings. Graduates qualify to pursue a K-12 school counselor license through the Michigan Department of Education. Selected candidates must dedicate themselves fully to their graduate studies and maintain consistent course enrollment. The curriculum features a supervised school counseling internship requiring 300-600 clock hours. Note: This program doesn't fulfill the academic or internship prerequisites for Michigan's Limited License Professional Counselor (LLPC) credential, nor can it supplement prior master's degrees for LLPC eligibility. Details about professional counselor licensure requirements can be found in the Counseling Programs Student Handbook.
