The sociology faculty at MSU is recognized for prioritizing student success. Our professors maintain an open-door approach and are highly available to students. Ambitious students frequently get chances to collaborate with faculty on research initiatives. Numerous students have earned regional and national accolades for their academic work and secured publications in professional journals. Over the past year, our program has seen a 100% increase in declared majors.
Our department boasts a vibrant service-focused student group called the Association for Social and Behavioral Sciences. Participants volunteer at Boys and Girls Clubs, The Teen Shelter, and organize fundraising events for various charities.
MSU sociology alumni pursue diverse career paths including: graduate studies in sociology, human resources, pharmaceutical sales, financial planning, roles in both for-profit and non-profit sectors, academic positions, religious leadership, social services, mental health professions, law enforcement, business management, K-12 education (with teaching credentials), medical sales, and adoption services among others.
