Experts in animal nutrition examine diverse species, focusing on vitamin and mineral absorption, energy and protein usage, and dietary effectiveness. Learners conduct independent studies, occasionally collaborating with industry professionals. Our strong research approach enhances the demanding coursework.
The curriculum explores multiple aspects of animal science and nutrition, reproductive biology, biotech applications, and developmental processes, particularly in beef cattle, dairy cows, horses, and pigs. Alternative animal or cellular models may serve as research subjects.
Two paths are available: thesis or non-thesis. Those aiming for doctoral studies should select the thesis track. The intensive classes and guided research provide excellent preparation for advanced degrees. The non-thesis alternative offers a more structured, course-heavy approach, ideal for students seeking immediate industry employment and career progression. Participants gain practical experience through classroom instruction and hands-on animal care, feeding, handling, and oversight.
