The Bachelor of Science in History program aims to inspire students to explore and reinterpret history, engaging with the intricacies of past human actions while enriching their understanding of contemporary events. The coursework requires choosing at least one subject from the department's 21H undergraduate seminars, along with seven electives selected with guidance from a faculty advisor. These must cover at least two geographic regions and include one pre-modern (pre-1700) and one modern topic.
Juniors must enroll in 21H.390 (Theories and Methods in History) to build research and writing skills, followed by 21H.THT (History Pre-Thesis Tutorial) and 21H.THU (History Thesis) in their senior year. Both 21H.390 and 21H.THU fulfill the CI-M Communication Requirement. Additionally, students must complete three supplementary courses in another humanities, arts, or social sciences field to gain interdisciplinary insights into historical thought and behavior. With its flexible structure and ample elective space, this program enables students to tailor their studies to personal interests and academic goals.
The first-year application is intended for students who have concluded their secondary education and wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree as a full-time university student.
