The Late Antique Cultures track covers the period from the 3rd to 9th centuries, examining diverse human activities without traditional classical/medieval divisions. This specialization explores evolving cultural practices, social structures, political-economic systems, and artistic-literary traditions during transformative eras. Requirements include: one Roman history course (CLAS 1310 or 1320 - 1320 preferred), one medieval history course (HIST 1030 or 1040), one 1000/2000-level approved language course, plus six additional courses from Late Antique Cultures offerings approved by the concentration advisor.

Qualification Requirements

International applicants, like all applicants to Brown, are expected to complete secondary school. Brown's first-year students will have completed 12 to 13 years of primary and secondary schooling.
