The department provides a five-year integrated B.S./M.S. program called the Accelerated Degree Program (ADP). This initiative allows students to obtain both a bachelor of science in civil engineering or construction engineering and a master of science in civil engineering within five years (or six with a co-op). Current undergraduates in the civil, construction, and environmental engineering department at Marquette University (with a GPA of 3.500 or higher) can apply for ADP admission in their junior year. Applicants must submit their application to the Marquette University Graduate School, express their ADP interest, and fulfill all other admission requirements outlined in the Application Requirements section of the Graduate Bulletin.
Along with finishing their undergraduate degree requirements, students enroll in master's level courses during their senior year. The rest of the master's level coursework is completed in the fifth year. Up to 6 credits can count toward both undergraduate and graduate degrees, but these shared credits must be from graduate-level courses (numbered 5000 or above). Students are highly advised to choose Plan A (thesis option), starting thesis research in the summer after junior year. They continue gaining research experience during the summer between senior and fifth years, progressing through the fifth year and finishing with a written thesis and defense. Accelerated degree programs under Plan B (coursework option) are also available. Refer to the Graduate Bulletin for more information.
