The elementary education master's program equips you with in-depth knowledge of teaching methods, lesson planning, student evaluation, and classroom leadership for elementary settings. You'll also earn your Professional Educator License (PEL) with elementary and ESL qualifications, preparing you for elementary teaching careers. This part-time MEd program spans two years, with weekday afternoon and evening classes available at Loyola's Chicago campuses and through online learning.
The Elementary Education MEd with Dance Specialization caters to professionals aiming to transform children's lives through dance education, developed in collaboration with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) Residency Initiatives.
The curriculum is structured for optimal flexibility, offering evening and digital coursework options that enable you to work as a CPS teaching resident while earning your degree.
Upon completion, graduates obtain a PEL with elementary and ESL certifications plus a Dance Specialization, requiring 18 credit hours of prerequisite dance studies.
A key feature of our teacher training involves hands-on classroom practice, where participants work directly with students and experienced teachers to refine their instructional skills. Participants will serve as full-time CPS teaching residents, receiving a $40,000 residency stipend from CPS during this practical training period.
