The 21-credit Graduate Certificate in Teaching: Elementary Education is tailored for individuals with an existing bachelor's degree. Graduates who successfully finish this program qualify for North Carolina's Standard Professional I teaching certification.
The certificate's curriculum matches Phase I of the Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) program. After earning the certificate, eligible participants may choose to advance to Phase II to obtain their M.A.T. degree. Enrollment in the Graduate Certificate program doesn't guarantee admission to the M.A.T. program, as each has distinct application processes. Additional details about this pathway can be found in the M.A.T. in Elementary Education program information.
