Loyola's dual JD/MA program enables law students to earn both a Juris Doctor degree and a Master's in Political Science in less time than completing each program independently. The combined program typically takes 4 years instead of the usual 5 years for separate degrees.
This program provides focused preparation for public sector careers or legal practices dealing with administrative agencies, blending legal education with an understanding of the political frameworks shaping domestic and international legal systems.
The curriculum covers foundational theories and academic literature across four key Political Science disciplines:
American Politics (examination of U.S. government structures and political systems).
Comparative Politics (analysis of political dynamics across global regions including Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East).
International Relations (study of worldwide processes within the global political system).
Political Theory (exploration of philosophical thought from Ancient to Modern and Contemporary political ideologies).
