Loyola University Chicago's Bachelor of Arts in Theatre program maximizes the benefits of a liberal arts education. Through training in performance, directing, design, technology, management, dramaturgy, and literature, this major equips students for diverse careers in the theatrical field. Our Liberal Arts foundation, demonstrated through the BA degree (rather than a BFA), highlights how cross-disciplinary learning shapes versatile, multifaceted theatre professionals. We develop actors, directors, administrators, playwrights, designers, and technicians, readying them for all industry sectors. Play production is central to our academic approach, with numerous chances for students to engage as performers, directors, designers, dramaturgs, or playwrights in our vibrant production schedule. Our season features faculty-directed plays and musicals that align with departmental educational objectives, alongside a rich variety of student-led productions - from full stagings to experimental works and script readings.
