This program equips students with the skills to master stage direction, understand a director's role, and navigate collaborations with designers, stage managers, and performers. Participants will helm class assignments, a capstone project, and productions for the student-led Basement Arts group. Seniors or graduates are advised to complete an internship with a professional theater company. Those pursuing directing as a vocation, potentially including advanced studies, will find this major ideal. The department fosters a dynamic environment rich in cultural perspectives, academic challenge, and hands-on training within a close-knit community. Our faculty are active industry experts across disciplines, while our graduates excel both onstage and behind the scenes, creating one of the most robust professional networks in theater.
