Loyola Marymount University pioneered America's first Master of Arts in Yoga Studies program. This graduate program provides a comprehensive examination of yoga traditions, encompassing practical application, textual analysis, and theoretical frameworks. Students delve into yoga philosophy, historical context, Sanskrit language, physical disciplines, comparative spirituality, and immersive study opportunities in India.

This program cultivates expert practitioners and thought leaders in yoga. Alumni have pursued doctoral studies, taught at collegiate levels, established yoga centers, assumed leadership roles in yoga media organizations, and trained future yoga instructors.

Develop knowledge of human physiology from both Western scientific and yogic viewpoints
Comprehend yoga's physiological impacts on the human body
Master and apply yoga's spiritual and ethical principles
Contextualize contemporary yoga within its historical and social evolution
