The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program prepares graduate students to teach art, design, and visual culture while enhancing their personal artistic skills. Within SAIC's Art Education program, students develop into thoughtful educator-artists who create learning environments that nurture more equitable and vibrant communities. This program meets the qualifications for Illinois K-12 Visual Arts teacher certification. SAIC's teacher training curriculum may also satisfy licensure standards in other states and nations. Structured as a full-time commitment, the MAT program typically takes four semesters (two years) to complete.
