Mirroring the varied nature of this legal field, the Entertainment & Media Law Concentration offers two distinct pathways:
Entertainment & Media Law Transactional
Entertainment & Media Law Advocacy
Prof. Julie Shapiro oversees both the Transactional and Advocacy tracks, whose requirements are outlined below.
Legal professionals in entertainment/media law typically specialize in either transactional work or advocacy/dispute resolution. Adding complexity, numerous (though not all) transactional law firms appreciate - and sometimes prioritize - litigation experience for their entry-level attorneys. Consequently, unlike our other Concentrations, this program provides the two aforementioned specialized tracks. For foundational legal training (whether in transactional/business law or advocacy), the Entertainment & Media Law Concentration incorporates relevant elements from both the Civil Litigation and Corporate Concentrations for their respective focus areas.
