The Department of Agricultural Economics & Agribusiness provides Master of Science programs with three specialization tracks: Agribusiness Management, Natural Resource and Environmental Policy, and Agricultural Economics (refer to Tables 1-3 in the Graduate Student Handbook). Both thesis (research-based) and non-thesis pathways are available for each specialization. Master's candidates must fulfill all required coursework and pass a final oral examination. A maximum of 12 semester hours can be transferred from other accredited institutions, provided these courses were part of a legitimate graduate program. Transfer credits will not be granted for courses completed with a C grade or lower, or any equivalent unsatisfactory mark.
Each specialization has defined coursework consisting of mandatory core classes and additional requirements. All students must complete the core curriculum. The thesis pathway demands at least 33 semester hours, including six hours dedicated to thesis work. Those focusing on Agribusiness Management need to complete 18 hours of required courses, 9 hours of approved electives, and 6 hours of thesis research. Additionally, Agribusiness students must undertake an internship, selected in consultation with their advisor, that aligns with both their thesis research goals and professional aspirations.
