The Sustainable Food Systems specialization equips students to critically and creatively tackle major food system issues. This program takes a comprehensive view of food systems, encompassing every phase from farming and production to processing, distribution, sales, consumption, and waste management - along with the various private, nonprofit, research, and governmental entities working to enhance system sustainability. Students will develop systems thinking skills to examine food-environment relationships, grasp the interplay of science, policy, and ethics, and evaluate the balances and connections between different goals, approaches, and results.
The University of Colorado Boulder's Master of the Environment (MENV) is a cutting-edge, cross-disciplinary professional master's program preparing graduates to solve today's complex environmental problems. This intensive 21-month cohort program cultivates leadership skills for diverse careers in conservation, consulting, energy, natural resources, urban planning, policy development, sustainability initiatives, and related fields.

Qualification Requirements

To be considered for the MENV program, students must have a four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. institution or the international equivalent. We recommend a minimum of one year of professional experience or applicable training prior to applying. Submit recommendations directly online through the application system. Make sure to give your recommenders enough time to write and submit their letters before the application deadlines listed above, incomplete applications will not be reviewed. The MENV program does not consider the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) as part of its review process. IELTS: 6.0, TOEFL ibt: 75, TOEFL pbt: 537.

University Requirement: Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, or have done work equivalent to that required for such a degree. Have adequate preparation to enter graduate study in the chosen field. Have at least a 2.75 (2.00=C) undergraduate grade point average.
