To earn the degree, students must complete at least 30 graduate semester credits (33 credits for Music Theory). With approval from the Area Coordinator, up to six transfer credits from other institutions may count toward required or elective LSU courses. All master's degree requirements must be fulfilled within a five-year period.
This program requires an audition for admission. Performance degree applicants should review specific audition guidelines, as requirements differ by specialization. While recorded auditions are accepted, in-person auditions are strongly encouraged.

Qualification Requirements
A conferred baccalaureate (or equivalent) from a regionally accredited college or university by the expected date of entry into the graduate program. The Graduate School requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 GPA scale or in the last 60 credit hours in the previous undergraduate or graduate coursework.
