The Master of Arts in Music program aims to enhance students' professional skills, foster independent learning capabilities, and offer specialized focus within their selected musical discipline.
Our curriculum delivers both undergraduate and graduate-level music education for aspiring performers, composers, and private instructors, as well as those pursuing advanced degrees in performance and composition. The program meets California's state requirements for music teaching credentials and offers graduate studies for those targeting academic careers or professional development as K-12 educators or community college faculty. Additionally, it provides general music exposure for community members and non-music majors.
Fresno State's Master of Arts in Music program strengthens professional expertise, promotes lifelong learning skills, and allows for concentrated study in specific musical specializations.
A cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 is required. Applicants with a GPA between 2.75 and 2.99 may be considered, however, for these applicants the GRE General Test is required.
