The LSU Theatre program strives to support students through comprehensive training in performance techniques, theatrical history and literature, along with cultivating critical thinking, conceptual understanding, and argumentation skills essential for a liberal arts foundation. Designed to equip graduates for professional and academic theatre careers, the program acknowledges theatre's interconnectedness with broader cultural discourse. Our curriculum promotes an international perspective on performance, with production training emphasizing engagement with contemporary intellectual and political landscapes. We believe theatre – both as practice and academic pursuit – plays a vital role in cultural conversations, providing not just amusement but meaningful perspectives on societal values and aspirations.

Each student's academic pathway will be customized through collaboration with their graduate advisory committee, comprising their primary advisor and at least two other graduate faculty members, ensuring alignment with LSU Graduate School's committee requirements.
