No medium compares to the elegance of metal type pressed into crisp white paper, or the vibrant hues from a masterful aquatint or lithograph. Thoughtful learning—demanding analysis, creative solutions, and genuine effort—often leaves a more profound and enduring impact than instant digital results. Printmakers blend time-honored techniques with cutting-edge digital and experimental approaches to image creation.
The School of Art provides specialized printmaking pathways within both the Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art programs, alongside a printmaking minor. Students investigate collaborative opportunities and evolving artistic methods while preserving foundational traditions like lithography, intaglio, relief, silkscreen, book arts, and papermaking.
