The LSU School of Art provides photography concentrations within both the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Studio Art programs, along with an undergraduate minor option.
Those studying photography develop skills to produce compelling imagery while examining the medium's cultural significance. The program encourages students to cultivate and hone their artistic vision, using photographic methods as a means of creative expression. Coursework blends modern and traditional approaches with current artistic discourse, offering opportunities to experiment with diverse techniques. Learners engage with both conventional and innovative processes through structured classes and self-directed projects, with access to specialized facilities for black-and-white, color, large-format, alternative processes, studio lighting, and digital photography.
