The Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) program is designed for independent, imaginative students who thrive beyond conventional academic boundaries. Today's employers seek versatile thinkers capable of approaching problems from diverse angles. With the BIS degree, you gain comprehensive knowledge while customizing your curriculum to align with your career aspirations and creative vision. This program combines three minor fields with a capstone course, University Studies (UNST) 3900, supported by dedicated advising from LSU's College of Humanities & Social Sciences. In UNST 3900, you'll develop a digital portfolio demonstrating to potential employers how you integrate expertise from multiple disciplines to address real-world challenges.
The Urban and Regional Planning specialization combines Geography, Political Science, and Sociology minors. This track explores human-environment relationships, policy-making processes affecting communities, and the social impacts of these decisions. Graduates can pursue careers in municipal government or community development organizations.
