The Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) program is designed for independent, imaginative students who thrive beyond conventional academic boundaries. Today's employers seek versatile thinkers capable of tackling complex issues from diverse angles. With the BIS degree, you'll gain comprehensive knowledge while customizing your curriculum to align with your career aspirations and creative vision. This unique program combines three minor fields of study with a culminating experience - University Studies (UNST) 3900. You'll benefit from dedicated guidance from LSU's College of Humanities & Social Sciences advisors throughout your journey. The UNST 3900 course helps you develop a digital professional portfolio, demonstrating to potential employers how you can integrate knowledge from multiple disciplines to address real-world challenges.

The Public Policy Advocacy concentration combines Communication Studies, History, and Political Science minors. Students in this track develop skills to: communicate persuasively in both individual and group settings, comprehend the historical roots and political dimensions of policy-making, and recognize how past policy decisions continue influencing contemporary community impacts. Graduates may pursue careers in local, state, or federal government offices, or join advocacy groups focused on shaping public policy initiatives.
