Introduced by the College of Music and Dramatic Arts in 1998-99, the Bachelor of Arts in Music provides a flexible option for students seeking a less rigorous music program compared to the Bachelor of Music Education or Bachelor of Music degrees.
This program suits students desiring a wider range of subjects alongside fundamental music training. The Bachelor of Arts in Music offers 8 specialized concentrations, each featuring a curated selection of courses tailored to specific focus areas. Participants enjoy considerable flexibility in selecting courses, both within and outside the LSU School of Music.
As a liberal arts degree, the Bachelor of Arts in Music enables students to explore varied interests and multiple career directions. Graduates are equipped for professional opportunities in education, performance, music libraries, arts administration, communications, music business, human services, and advanced studies in music history or theory.
