Welcome to the Graduate Program in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) at LIU Brooklyn (referred to as The Graduate Program). Our CSD Department is dedicated to advancing the study of human communication sciences and disorders within a culturally and linguistically diverse environment. Long Island University's Brooklyn Campus offers an accredited Master of Science (M.S.) program in speech-language pathology (residential) by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, located at 2200 Research Boulevard, #310, Rockville, MD 20850, 800-498-2071 or 301-296-5700.

This New York State Department of Education-registered program awards a Master of Science Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, meeting ASHA's requirements for the CCC-CLP and qualifying graduates for New York State SLP licensure. Students can also pursue certification as a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) during their studies. Those proficient in another language may additionally qualify for a Bilingual Extension certification, preparing them to assist bilingual individuals or those who speak languages other than English.

Qualification Requirements

The university-wide institutional policy for admission of students to graduate study is a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university indicating an acceptable record, with additional requirements set by individual graduate programs.

B.A. or B.S. degree with a minimum cumulative undergraduate grade-point average (GPA) of 3.2, including completion of pre-requisite coursework in speech-language pathology and audiology. Students may receive a minimum grade of B- in all pre-requisite courses.

English requirement: TOEFL: 79 and IELTS: 6.5
