The 36-credit Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.) with a focus on School District Business Leadership equips graduates for roles such as assistant, associate, or deputy superintendent overseeing business operations. The curriculum comprises 30 credit hours in school administration alongside a mandatory 400-hour supervised internship in a school business office. Course topics cover school financial management, business administration in educational settings, budgeting procedures, and district-level administration. While teaching experience isn't mandatory, non-teachers may still qualify for New York State certification as a School District Business Leader. Applicants need a bachelor's degree, relevant professional background, and either previous graduate studies or plans for future advanced coursework. To obtain certification, graduates must successfully complete all program requirements and pass the New York State School Leadership Assessment.
