The Department of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education strives to advance cutting-edge research, instruction, and community initiatives that enhance P20 STEM learning across Kentucky, the United States, and globally. Our faculty dedicate themselves to elevating scientific, mathematical, and technological competencies from early childhood through advanced academic studies. With diverse specializations in STEM pedagogy, our scholars create influential curricula adopted at local and national levels. Their investigations explore STEM learning challenges, conceptual mastery, curriculum deployment, and educator growth. Furthermore, faculty have pioneered unique STEM courses designed to cultivate analytical reasoning, creative problem-solving, and inventive approaches in STEM fields. The department provides adaptable graduate programs in STEM Education, allowing specialization in particular disciplines like mathematics or science education, or pursuing comprehensive STEM studies.

Writing Sample
The writing sample may be a paper written for a course in an undergraduate or graduate course, publication, conference paper, grant proposal, or a similar writing sample.
GRE
Preferably from within the past 10 years if you are a KY teacher applying for rank change, GRE must be within the last 5 years.
TOEFL or IELTS (for international students whose native language is not English)
Three letters of recommendation (the online system will email your references to submit their letters)
Interview with STEM Education faculty specializing in your area of interest (interview will be scheduled upon completion of application materials)
Onsite writing sample prior to interview
For the Graduate School, the minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 550 (paper-based) 213 (computer-based), or 79 (internet-based). The minimum IELTS score is 6.5
