The Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics equips students for fulfilling careers in nutrition counseling, dietary planning, wellness coaching, food service administration, and public health education. This comprehensive 120-credit, four-year curriculum combines liberal arts with rigorous scientific training, offering foundational knowledge in nutritional science. The program covers essential subjects including biological sciences, chemistry, statistical analysis, clinical nutrition, public health nutrition, food service operations, cultural food studies, sports nutrition, and food science. Students learn to translate nutritional science into practical guidance for diverse populations, including those with specific dietary requirements. The curriculum aligns with the competency standards established by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
This degree incorporates the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD), which holds full accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, located at 120 South Riverside Plaza, Suite 2190, Chicago, IL 60606 (phone: 312/899-5400). Graduates qualify to pursue accredited dietetic internships or entry-level positions not requiring RDN certification. To become eligible for the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist examination, students must complete both this bachelor's program and an ACEND-approved dietetic internship.
