The unmanned aircraft system (drone) industry is poised for remarkable expansion following the latest FAA regulations. Opportunities for drone pilots, developers, and manufacturers will reach unprecedented levels. This academic program will strongly emphasize ethical applications of unmanned aircraft vehicles and systems, consistent with Lewis University's Lasallian and Catholic principles. Every UAS course syllabus and instructor will highlight the significance of protecting citizen privacy and promoting peaceful uses of Unmanned Aircraft Systems. The Bachelor of Science in Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) equips students for professional careers as UAS operators. Graduates will complete at least 128 semester hours and obtain these FAA certifications: Pilot Certificate—Airplane Single-Engine Land with Instrument Airplane rating.
Upon enrolling at Lewis University, students must complete all flight training through the institution. The Bachelor of Science in Unmanned Aircraft Systems is exclusively granted to students who successfully achieve a Commercial Pilot Certificate at Lewis University, including those who obtained FAA Certificates or Ratings before matriculation.
Students entering the program directly after graduating from high school need to have earned a minimum 3.0 GPA and a 21 ACT or 1060 SAT.
