Master's degree candidates must complete at least eleven courses (33 credits). M.A. students can choose from a wide range of traditional historical literary periods, theoretical subjects, and courses that align with our Literature and Social Justice focus (though historical and L&SJ courses overlap significantly, with most offerings combining both elements). This structure ensures diversity in students' academic work and enhances their career prospects by preparing them to teach survey courses across multiple fields while potentially cultivating expertise in L&SJ. Students have the option to replace one course (3 credits) with a thesis project.
