The Bachelor of Arts program in the College of Arts and Sciences isn't designed as pre-professional training. It's ideal for students who don't intend to pursue graduate studies in chemistry or related sciences but desire more comprehensive chemistry knowledge than offered by the minor program. The B.A. curriculum also serves as an excellent foundation for careers in health-related chemistry, environmental chemistry, geochemistry, or chemistry management. Students can switch between the B.S. and B.A. tracks as late as their junior year, as both share fundamental requirements. Those in the B.A. program who later decide to pursue graduate studies in chemistry, biochemistry, or related fields should consult with department advisors about supplementary coursework to prepare for advanced studies.
