The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Chemistry program offers students a comprehensive foundation in chemistry, preparing them for medical school or other chemistry-related careers. By incorporating specialized Chemistry Electives, students can also meet the prerequisites for graduate studies in Chemistry. This BA degree provides a strong chemical knowledge base for those pursuing medical school or similar fields. With supplementary chemistry electives, students gain the qualifications needed for graduate chemistry programs. The BA degree can also meet American Chemical Society (ACS) certification standards when students complete extra coursework, including additional lab components.
This chemistry BA program caters to pre-professional students aiming for careers in medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, pharmacy, or other fields where chemistry training is valuable. BA students can expand their studies with extra chemistry classes or use the flexible curriculum to create interdisciplinary programs tailored to their interests.
Housed within Case Western Reserve University's College of Arts and Sciences, the Chemistry Department requires BA candidates to complete 39 SAGES requirement credits. Students must also earn 31-32 credit hours in chemistry courses, along with additional math and science credits. The remaining 45-46 elective credits allow students to focus on pre-professional specialization or pursue a dual degree.
